Smart water management for Oosterweel – Left Bank

The Oosterweel works on the Left Bank represent one of the most complex infrastructure projects in Flanders, with safety, sustainability and environmental protection at its core. A key challenge within this large-scale project is the controlled management of contaminated firefighting water and surface water, ensuring protection of both people and the environment.

Integrated control and monitoring

To address this challenge, nine strategic locations were equipped with ADR buffer basins. These basins allow potentially contaminated water to be safely collected and temporarily stored.

In close cooperation with an electromechanical partner, Infrasoft was responsible for the complete design, programming and implementation of the control and monitoring systems for these ADR buffer installations.

The systems were developed with a strong focus on reliability, safety and transparency. Through a direct connection to the network of the Flemish government (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer – AWV), the installations can be centrally controlled and monitored. As a result, operators at the Flemish Tunnel Control Centre (Vlaams Tunnelcentrum – VTC) have real-time insight and control, enabling fast and effective intervention when required.

A tangible result

The outcome is a robust and future-proof solution that is fully integrated into the existing government infrastructure. This project clearly demonstrates how Infrasoft leverages its expertise to support complex infrastructure and environmental projects.

By combining smart automation with thoughtful integration, we make safe, controlled and efficient water management a reality — today and in the future.
